Hotel

Article by Jill Jankoski

If you’re traveling this year, if you’re like most people, you’re on a budget. However, this day being on a budget doesn’t mean you’re limited to thrifty hotels with paper thin sheets and other generic hotel supplies. Budget inns and chain hotels alike strive to please their guests and, as such, pay attention to the wants and needs of their guests, including the hotel supplies. As a consumer, you have more power than you know when it comes to rates, hotel supplies and amenities and, if you’re like most consumers, you’re not aware of it. You have more options acquirable to you when you’re traveling than ever before and most hotels will meet or beat their competition in order to win your business.

Compare hotels

Many people this day are part of hotel frequent stay programs so they typically default to those member hotels, regardless of the price, amenities or hotel supplies offered. If this is you, stop! Compare the hotels in your desired price range or area. Obviously the hotel whose frequent guest program you joined has all of the amenities and hotel supplies you want but check out the competition to see if another hotel, or maybe two, has a superior rate or a superior deal for multiple night stays than your usual hotel. Hotels, and travel discount websites, often run specials or freebies such as stay 2 nights, get 2 nights free or they might give you a suite for the price of a regular room. Some also offer one-of-a-kind hotel supplies to their guests.

Ask for it!

If you want it, ask for it! That might seem easy but you’d be surprise you many people won’t even ask for things they’d like, whether they’re entitled to them or not. From hotel supplies to amenities such as extra towels or missing beauty aids, most people are afraid to ask for even the simplest things. Don’t be afraid to ask. In fact, many hotels have a back stock of hotel supplies such as disposable razors, shaving cream and even pantyhose that nobody knows about. If most of the hotels you’re looking at offer complimentary continental breakfast while the hotel you like offers it as an add on for which you must pay, mention that you really love their hotel and the rate but you’ll have to stay somewhere else because it fits your budget better. Many hotels want your business and will deliver the hotel supplies and amenities you need, if only you ask.

Be picky

Often times when you’re looking at hotels, you might not necessarily pay attention to the details, especially if you’ve got the price or location you want and the hotel supplies and amenities are irrelevant. Even though the hotels you’ve chosen to compare side by side are all in the same desirable area you want to be in, that’s often where the similarities end. As you’re comparing and reviewing hotels, be picky. You’re spending your hard-earned money so spend it wisely. What are you getting for your money? Do you want a pool and a fitness center in your hotel? Are hotels that don’t offer hotel supplies such as CD/radio alarm clocks and ironing boards, for example, out of contention?

Choose the hotel where you want to spend your time and money carefully from among your favored hotels once you’ve compared them side-by-side. Think about the hotel supplies, amenities and conveniences apiece offers for the rate and compare them and, if applicable, don’t hesitate to ask a hotel to meet or beat competitor’s rate. Even though you might get a ‘no’, hotels want your business so the odds are you’ll get a break of some sort. This is your vacation, your hotel stay, so take advantage of it to get the ideal doable deal.

Vacation Tip #1: Make a Decision

Before you leave home, make the decision that you will NOT acquire weight while on your trip.

This is the easiest step to take to make sure that you refrain weight gain, but it is also the most overlooked. Visualize what it would be like to return home fitter than when you left. Take a moment to let yourself feel the excitement that you’d experience.

Vacation Tip #2: Get Moving

It’s simple to spend pass days sprawled out by the pool, but the inactivity will swiftly add up to extra pounds.

Choose to be active and you’ll burn calories all day long while indulging in fewer unnecessary snacks. The following ideas will get you moving:

Go on a brisk achievement apiece day of your trip. You’ll see new sights while burning off excess calories.
Always take the stairs rather than the elevator. Speak about bonus calorie burning!
Go on a jog in the mornings before your regular activities, or jog in the evening after the day winds down.
If your hotel has a pool, swim a few laps apiece day. Swimming is a fun way to get in a full body workout.
If your trip takes you to a place of natural beauty then go on a hike. Even while hiking at a slow or moderate pace you’ll burn plenty of calories.
Play some sports – beach volleyball, a game of hoops, Frisbee, or cycle riding are all great ways to have fun while keeping fit.
Grab a hotel room workout using your own body weight (i. e. …squats, push-ups, lunges).   Do Jumping Jacks, high knees, or jog in place for 30 second intervals in between sets.

Vacation Tip #3: Indulge with Portion Control

You have no choice but to take out while on vacation. Whether you’re enjoying 5 star restaurants or fast food diners, you’ll be met with the same problem: large portions.

While it is tempting to simply take it all – you are on pass after all – this will swiftly lead to extra pounds. Use the following tips to keep your portions under control:

When you order your meal ask for a to-go box. Take half of your meal and place it into the box before you even start to eat. This will force you to take a healthy portion.
If you would rather not carry around a to-go box, ask that your entrée be prefabricated into a smaller portion. If it is dinnertime don’t be afraid to ask for the lunch-sized portion.
Eat slowly, and take foods that have been prepared slowly – that means no fast food.

Vacation Tip #4: Eat Natural Sweets

One of your biggest enemies when it comes to pass weight acquire is. . . sugar.

The average modern mortal consumes 46 teaspoons of sugar each day. The average mortal on pass consumes even more than that.

Even though sugary calories taste great, the sweet pleasure comes at a high price. Here’s what I mean:

Sugar creates false hunger (as a result of the insulin rush and then ensuing plummet in blood sugar levels), which causes you overeat.
Sugar promotes aging (due to the advanced glycation end products, or AGEs, that occur when insulin levels are consistently elevated as a result of intake too much sugar). Sugar has even been dubbed the negative fountain of youth!
Sugar in excess is stored as fat (after your liver has no more room to store it, sugar is converted to fat and deposited on your belly, thighs, hips and the backs of your arms).

So instead of intake that cover cream cone or chocolate éclair, satiate your sweet tooth with a piece of juicy fruit.

Well, now you have 4 tips that will keep away the unwanted pass pounds. You might even end up losing a pound or two while away.

But let’s be honest, you want to lose more than a pound or two. You want to lose all of those extra pounds.

You might feel that the secret to achieving weight loss is just that – a secret. A mystery. You try, and try, and try but your goals are never met. Your dream body continues to stay out of reach.

In my experience the people who are unable to lose weight aren’t imperfectness due to laziness. In fact, those frustrated with their weight often place in a lot of effort – but on the wrong things. A cult diet. The latest exercise gizmo. An ineffective routine at the gym.

It’s not that you aren’t willing to place in the effort – you’re just doing the wrong thing.

Think about this for a moment. . . What if this was the summer that you took control of your body? The summer that you threw your fat clothes away. . . the summer that you were chesty to place on a washing suit. . . the summer that your physician congratulated you on your improved health. . . the summer that your family and friends – and that special someone – showered you with compliments.

It’s possible. Even more doable than you think.

The thing is that you need to direct your effort in an effective way.

This is where I come in.

You see, for me weight loss isn’t a mystery. It’s my passion. I have a proven method that will dramatically transform your body into one that you are chesty to be seen in.

However, I can’t promise that it will be easy. You’ll work hard, you’ll sweat and you’ll even feel sore. And before you know it you will be telling everyone you know about the astonishing results you’ve achieved.

So as you plan your next vacation, why don’t you also give yourself the gift that you really want – a new body. A tighter body. A stronger body. A healthier body.

I am here to help you do just that. Call or email now to schedule your first body-transforming workout.

Together we will come up with a fitness plan that is uniquely yours, one that fits your lifestyle and brings you promptly to your goals – something that you will appreciate while on pass and at home.

The Ingham brothers had the same passion for breeding horses as their father, and inherited a broodmare titled Valiant Rose, a descendant of an Epsom Derby winner and champion broodmare sire, Bend Or. Valiant Rose ordered the foundation for the Ingham’s racing empire which soon became the largest breeding and racing operation in Australia. Their racing empire included Crown Lodge racing Stables at Warwick Farm Racecourse in Sydney, Woodlands Stud in Denman in the Hunter Valley, and Carbine Lodge at Flemington in Melbourne. In addition, the Inghams run ran racing stables in Brisbane and Adelaide.

Among the most successful horses from Inghams’ stable was the 1996 Australian Horse of the Year, Octagonal. The thoroughbred racehorse won multiple Group One races that included the Cox Plate and Australian Derby. The other horses to bring accolades to the Inghams were Lonhro and Canny Lad, two top stallions that rose to dizzying heights during their racing career. Lonhro as good as his sire, Octagonal with 26 wins, 3 seconds, and 2 thirds from 35 starts. Their first Golden Slipper Stakes came from Sweet Embrace, the Ted Stanton-trained horse that marked the beginning of a successful breeding and racing operation for the Ingham brothers. The Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup were the only two races to elude the brothers.

The success with Octagonal and John Hawkes, private trainer for the Ingham brothers, inspired them to establish stables in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide. Hawkes prepared over 60 Group 1 winners with record earnings that lead to the established of the largest Thoroughbred operation in the country. Jockey Beadman shared the success with the Ingham brothers, riding Octagonal to memorable victories in the mid-1990s. Each season the Ingham racing empire won prize money in excess of million.

On Jack Ingham’s death after a long struggle with leukemia in 2003, Bob Ingham AO, continued to run the empire with other family members, bringing in new breeding stock through some high profile purchases. Both brothers were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004. In addition, they were honored by the government as an Officer (AO) of the Order of Australia.

In 2008, Bob Ingham announced his desire to sell Inghams entire racing operation to Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Darley Stud operation for around 0 million. Included in the understanding were over 1000 of Australia’s ideal thoroughbreds. The deal also included two stables at Flemington and Warwick Farm, two stud farms at Jerry’s Plains in the Hunter Valley and Cootamundra, and a pre-training complex at Belmont Park. The declaration was prefabricated on the eve of the Magic Millions Yearling Sales in 2008.

Sheikh Mohammed, ruler of Dubai, is the biggest racehorse owner in the world, while the Ingham’s operation was the largest in the southern hemisphere. No matter what, the Inghams will be remembered for their part in making Australian racing what it is today.
